Purpose

The Society is organized generally to encourage the documentation, collection, arrangement, recordation, marking, preservation, and dissemination of historic materials, data, and places relative to the history of Port St. Lucie for deposit and exhibit.  The purposes of the society may include the following.

 

     To stimulate greater government, business and public awareness and appreciation of the importance of    the history of Port St. Lucie to the people of Port St. Lucie and St. Lucie County.

 

            To encourage and facilitate opportunities for Port St. Lucie residents to participate in activities relevant to the preservation of the history of Port St. Lucie.

    To encourage and facilitate opportunities for Port St. Lucie residents to participate in and support the historical research of Port St. Lucie.

           To promote the development of Port St. Lucie historical institutions.

   To survey and asses the historical and archeological background of the City of Port St. Lucie.

            To support and facilitate the preservation and growth of Port St. Lucie resources.

   To coordinate, promote, and conduct programs concerning the history of Port St. Lucie.

           To determine the feasibility of building an historic facility in Port St. Lucie.

   To provide financial and technical assistance to historians and historic institutions as funds are available.

           To encourage local historic education in the public schools and other educational institutions of 

Port St. Lucie and St. Lucie County.
