The docudrama City of Dreams took two awards, Best Documentary and Best Theme Song, "A City Within a Dream," at the Treasure Coast International Film Festival's annual event April 30, 2011, in the Port St. Lucie Civic Center. The movie is sponsored by the Port St. Lucie Historical Society. The Society's chair, Richard McAfoos, is executive producer of the film.
While producers of the City of Dreams project created it solely as a
tribute to Port St. Lucie and its people, past and present, any recognition
it receives is greatly favorable in spreading the message of what a
wonderful place Port St. Lucie really is.
This was the TCIFF's fourth annual event as part of the first tier of industry recognitions around the country for achievement in film production, a circuit of approximately 100 such events. There were more than 50 entries in the various categories of competition from around the world. The second tier of events is held nationwide in major metro markets, with a select third tier held at well-known venues such as the SunDance Festival, culminating with the Academy Awards.
